5G spectrum

What is the 5G spectrum?

One of the biggest buzzwords in the world of technology is 5g fifth generation it is claimed to offer super-fast speeds it's said to be promising it's passionately discussed by expert officials and enthusiasts. If you live in India the question you are perhaps asking is where is it India has the hardware to support 5g but we do not have access to technology yet there are many questions about the use of 5g in India and we get you all the answers right here watch the story the first one when will the 5g auction. Starting in India it will start on July 26th the bidders for the 5G spectrum are reliance Jio, Infocom, Vodafone, Idea, and part theater 5g deployment is expected to begin in India. Sometime between August and September talking about rollout plans Indian telecom minister. He said 20 to 25 Indian cities will get 5g connectivity by end of 2022. Now according to a report by Ericsson consumer lab, 67 percent of users in India are interested in taking up 5g once it's available.

How fast will 5G?

Well, 5g networks are expected to be at least 10 times faster than 4g. Once they could transmit data in milliseconds which means you should be able to download a full-length movie HD class in less than 10 seconds you can have an improved work-from-home experience as well as access to better health care services, another crucial question is how much will it cost it's too early to define a price range for five years of service in India. But experts believe users may have to pay a little extra for faster data speeds and smoother experiences telecom firms could initially charge 10 to 20 extra over 4g rates. But eventually, the cost of using data on a 5g network will be very much in line with what you pay for a 4g Indian telecom minister. He also said the cost of mobile data in India is already the lowest in the world so prices for 5g networks are likely to remain cheaper than the global average now to sum it up customers will not have to bear a higher data cost for 5g. Once it goes mainstream but should they buy a 5g phone already here's what we think 5g is not yet available so it does not matter if you have a phone with 5d support or not but it's coming soon, so there is no harm in buying a 5g enabled phone as long as it takes all the right boxes from camera to display and performance, but do not compromise on key features and pick the phone just. Because it has 5g all in all you will have to wait for a little longer, before you actually get to enjoy the super-fast speeds of a 5g network.

Indian 5G Spectrum

The Indian government is planning to auction off 22.6 billion megahertz (MHz) of radio frequency (RF) spectrum in 2018. The bid invitation was issued in September 2017, and the bidding ended in November 2017. In March 2018, the government announced that they would put 4.7 billion MHz of airwaves up for sale, including 2.46 billion MHz of contiguous band licenses in both 800 MHz and 1800 MHz bands. These auctions were held over two days, with the first day's allocation consisting of 1.26 billion MHz across eight blocks; each block covering either the entire 800 MHz range or the entire 1800 MHz range, or portions thereof. As in previous years, these frequencies will be sold in packages of 10-15 MHz called spectrum lots'.

The second lot - known as Lot 6 - consists of 11 spectrum lots across the entire RF range. The total amount offered is about 2.43 billion MHz. Auctions for the remaining lots are yet to be announced.

In addition to the RF spectrum being auctioned off directly to private bidders, the government plans to rent out a portion of its share of spectrum in exchange for payments over 30 years. Private companies may also lease space from the government.

 India's 5G Strategy

The Indian government believes that the current allocation of the spectrum does not provide sufficient capacity to meet demand in India. The Indian Government plans to increase mobile phone penetration from around 54% today to 100% by 2025. To facilitate this goal, the government aims to ensure that nearly 99% of the population has access to a mobile network. Additionally, the government hopes to help foster economic growth in rural areas where 70% of Indians reside. According to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the government wants to invest $300 billion over 15 years in building the infrastructure needed to deploy 5G networks in India.

 Auction Results

The RF spectrum auction in February had a record low number of bids, totaling just 27, in comparison to the high numbers seen in previous years. Only three bidders submitted successful bids, giving them ownership of the allocated spectrum. All three winning bidders increased their holdings after the auction.

Conclusion of 5G spectrum

  • Payments can be made by winning bidders in 20 equal monthly installments.

  • No spectrum usage charge is being levied on airwaves.

  • The bidders will also be given an option to surrender the spectrum after 10 years with no future liabilities with respect to balance installments.
