On this day, both the nation and India gained independence from the British. In truth, the East India Company arrived in India earlier, under the time of King Maharajas, and established itself and ruled here. Following that, British rule over India officially began. Indians were kept as slaves in their own nation and had to follow British rule's directives. But many freedom warriors spoke out in favor of the cause for independence, and on August 15, 1947, India attained independence. Every year, this day is observed as Independence Day. On August 15, several other nations also commemorate their independence, not just India. This is because, in addition to India, a few other nations gained independence on August 15. How much wealth did Britishers take away from us?
According to research, Britain stole about $ 44.6 trillion from India in a total of 190 years through various maneuvers and used this money for the development of other countries as well. The British left no stone unturned to loot India and looted $ 45 trillion (about Rs 3,19,29,75,00,00,00,000.50) from the country's wealth. This amount is 17 times more than the GDP of the United Kingdom. From 1765 to 1938, the British looted a total of 9.2 trillion pounds, which is worth $ 45 trillion today.According to a research by Utsa Patnaik, the East India Company had imposed various types of taxes on Indian traders and citizens, due to which the company earned a lot of income. It was like a scam, in which goods were bought from Indians with a part of the tax collected. Overall, the British used to buy goods from Indians for free and export the remaining goods to other countries.
In industrialization, Britain stole heavily from India and progressed. He bought goods from India at cheap prices and sold them at high prices and earned 100% profit plus revenue. By 1847, British rule was completely implemented in India and the new tax and buy system was implemented. In this, special care was taken that the income and profits reached London directly.
Not only this, from the Indian revenue, Britain continued to bear the expenses of the war with other countries. The expenses incurred for suppressing the Chinese incursion in 1840 and the rebellion movement in 1857 were also collected from the tax of Indians.
Not only this, the goods and money taken from India were also used by Britain in the development of other countries as well.
Research by Patnaik claims that Britain defrauded India of around $ 44.6 trillion over the course of 190 years, not including the debt that India owes to Britain. It is worth mentioning that if all this money and taxes had been invested in India's own development, then today our country would have been one of the most powerful countries. India could have been at the forefront of the economy and the country's centuries of poverty would have been removed. In the middle, an attempt was also made to suppress this whole issue.
Conclusion
The people of India are grateful to those who battled to win their nation's independence. Every year on August 15, which is recognised as Indian Independence Day, they celebrate their independence. Every Indian sincerely cherishes this day.
